Water Damage Restoration Drying Equipment and Tools
Water Removal & Dehumidification

Water is one of the most destructive forces when it escapes its boundaries of the plumbing or drainage system. The longer it remains exposed, the more it generates the spread of infectious organisms and bacteria that over time can create a tremendous problem for the environment and it's occupants.

The IICRC recommends that you take the following steps while waiting for an IICRC-certified professional.

  • Stop the source of water flow.
  • Stay away from contaminated water or electrical hazards.
  • Move furnishings out of wet areas, or protect legs from moisture absorption with triple folded aluminum foil.
  • Pin up draperies and upholstery skirts to prevent water circles.
  • Call Morocco Restoration, an IICRC-certified firm in your area who is qualified to handle water damaged restoration work. Our certified technicians know how to identify fibers and fabrics, and to select the best cleaning and restoration options. They are committed to provide you with services based on the highest level of honesty and integrity.

The IICRC recommends that you do not attempt to treat water damage yourself. To preserve the appearance and life of carpet and furniture, hire a certified firm. By incorporating the science of drying, special training, and our immediate response, the loss is limited to just the affected areas and restoration time is minimal. You can be confident that an experienced, qualified professional is restoring your valuable furnishings.

According to the IICRC Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration (IICRC S500), there are three categories of water that cause damage in buildings.

TO PREVENT EMPLIFICATION OF MICROORGANISMS, IMMEDIATE RESPONSE IS NECESSARY FOR ALL CATEGORIES OF WATER INTRUSION.

FACT: Microorganisms are always present in the indoor environment.

Extraction Equipment with sufficient vacuum capability (lift and airflow) is used to efficiently remove water from floors, flooring materials, structural components and contents.

Air Movers are the most common equipment used in water damage restoration to promote evaporation. Air movers use a squirrel cage fan and, generally, the air is directed through a snout. Air movers create laminar airflow to assist in surface and sub-surface drying of textile floor coverings as well as surface drying of building materials.

Axial Fans or air ejectors are designed with the fan blades attached directly to the axis of rotation. Generally, axial fans have the ability to move larger quantities of air throw than air movers. They can be used to create negative or positive pressure within an area or building.

Air Filtration Devices are equipped with HEPA or carbon filtration. It can be used to filter air while creating negative pressure in contaminated areas as an "air scrubber," removing airborne contaminants without changing air pressure.

Dehumidification Equipment is essential in removing evaporated moisture from air to minimize or prevent secondary damage. In closed drying situations, mechanical dehumidifiers of sufficient capacity are necessary to create an effective drying system, ideally within 24 hours of the inception of drying.

Thermohygrometer is used to determine the temperature and relative humidity. With these measurements, our technicians can calculate the specific humidity (humidity ratio), vapor pressure and dew point temperature of the area inside the building affected by primary water damage-the area inside the building unaffected by primary water damage as well as the air outside the building.
